Created by the Romans, Britannia is an unwavering symbol of strength and fortitude. For centuries, she has served as the female personification of Britain and during his reign, the British monarch Charles II saw fit to make use of the figure on the nation’s coins.

In the centuries that have passed, Britannia has remained a mainstay of British coinage, and has come to feature on bullion coins and bars trusted by investors all over the world. Following the 2021 visual security enhancements to our Britannia bullion coin, we have now added three advanced visual security features to each of our Britannia gold bullion minted bars.

These innovative security features, which include a latent image, surface animation and micro-text, enhance Jody Clark’s modern interpretation of Britannia, which shows the figure wearing a Corinthian helmet and holding symbols of strength and protection, including a trident and a shield decorated with the Union flag.
